Looking for a place to smoke at Salt Lake City Airport? Here is your guide to smoking areas at SLC, which opened a brand-new terminal in 2020.
Smoking Areas at Salt Lake City Airport
The New SLC terminal, which opened in September 2020, is entirely smoke-free indoors. There are no smoking rooms or enclosed smoking areas anywhere in the facility.
The New SLC Terminal:
The new airport replaced the old terminal complex with a single modern building featuring two linear concourses (A and B) connected to a central gateway. Designated outdoor smoking areas are located on the arrivals level (Level 1) near the ground transportation center. Exit through the baggage claim hall and follow signage to the curbside.
Concourse Layout:
Concourse A handles Delta Air Lines (SLC is a major Delta hub) and Concourse B serves most other airlines. Both concourses connect through the central gateway building. There are no smoking areas anywhere past the TSA security checkpoint.
Salt Lake City Airport Smoking Policy
Utah’s Clean Air Act prohibits smoking inside all enclosed public places, including airports. The new SLC terminal enforces this with clearly marked designated outdoor areas on the ground level.
The new terminal design is efficient, so the walk from most gates back to the arrivals level is moderate. Plan about 30 to 40 minutes for the full round trip including TSA re-screening.
