Yes, you can smoke at Orlando International Airport (MCO) in the designated outdoor areas located curbside outside Terminals A, B and C. These marked areas sit on Level 1 (Arrivals) and Level 3 (Departures), and are equipped with signage and ashtrays. All spots are before security, so plan to re-clear TSA if you step out airside. MCO has been a non-smoking facility indoors since 1 July 2003 in line with Florida state law, and the rule covers cigars, e-cigarettes and vapes as well as cigarettes.
Terminals A & B (Main Terminal)
Terminals A and B occupy opposite sides of the same main terminal building, feeding Airsides 1–4 via the automated tram system. Smoking areas are outdoor and curbside on both halves:
- Level 3 (Departures) – designated smoking spots along the curb outside the ticketing/check-in doors at both Terminal A and Terminal B.
- Level 1 (Arrivals / Ground Transportation) – marked smoking areas at the curb near baggage claim, ground transport, and the parking-garage crossings.
The main terminal interior and all four Airside gate concourses are smoke-free, so the curbside areas are the places to head for once you land or before you check in.
Terminal C
Terminal C opened in September 2022 as MCO’s modern international and domestic terminal, with its own check-in, security, and gate concourse. It follows the same approach as the main terminal: smoking is permitted only in the designated outdoor areas at the curbside, on the Arrivals and Departures levels outside the terminal doors. The terminal interior and the gate areas are entirely smoke-free.
After Security & Layovers
Every smoking area at MCO is outdoors and landside. If you need a cigarette between flights, exit the secure area to the nearest outdoor curbside spot, then re-clear TSA screening to return. Re-clearing typically takes about 15–25 minutes during busy periods, so allow extra time on a tight connection.
