Outside the Terminal (Landside)
The smoking area is outdoors, at the curbside in front of the main terminal entrance. Step out through the terminal doors and move to the marked area set back from the entrance, in line with Florida’s clean indoor air rules that keep smokers a short distance from the doorways. There is no covered shelter, so the spot is open-air; Key West’s tropical climate makes year-round outdoor smoking comfortable, and brief afternoon rain showers are common in summer.
Concourse A and the Gates (Airside)
EYW opened its new Concourse A on 14 April 2025 — a roughly 48,800-square-foot building with eight gates, glass jet bridges, concessions, and expanded seating. The next phase of the airport’s rebuild — a larger, multi-lane security checkpoint plus expanded baggage claim and arrivals space — is due to finish in 2026, which should shorten that re-screening step further.
