Smoking Rooms by Terminal
Every terminal at DXB has ventilated indoor smoking rooms after security, scattered through the gate areas so you are rarely far from one. There are no outdoor airside terraces — all the airside smoking is indoors. Outdoor smoking is only available landside, at the kerbside areas outside each terminal.
Terminal 1 (Concourse D)
Terminal 1 handles international long-haul carriers outside the Emirates network (such as British Airways and Lufthansa) and feeds Concourse D, which is connected airside to Terminal 3.
- Camel-branded smoking lounge on the main floor, between Gates D12 and D13
- Winston-branded smoking room upstairs near Gate D1 — follow the “Airport lounges” signs
These locations are traveller-reported and current, but signage is the best guide once you are airside.
Terminal 2
Terminal 2 is a standalone building on the far side of the airfield, home to the flydubai hub plus regional and charter flights. It is not connected airside to Terminals 1 and 3.
- A designated free smoking area in the departures and boarding-gate area — smaller and less prominent than the T1 and T3 rooms
- A smoking point inside the T2 Marhaba Lounge for paid-lounge guests
Terminal 3 (Concourses A, B, C)
Terminal 3 is Emirates’ dedicated terminal — one of the largest airport buildings in the world — split across three concourses, all connected airside. It has the most smoking rooms of any terminal at DXB.
- Concourse A (the world’s first purpose-built A380 concourse, Emirates only): a smoking room near Gate A2.
- Concourse B (Emirates main concourse, also United and Air Canada): a Winston smoking lounge near Gates B3/B7, and a Ploom smoking lounge on the top floor near Gates B25/B27, next to the Hard Rock Cafe.
- Concourse C (older Emirates gates and partner airlines): smoking rooms near Gates C9 and C23.

If you would rather smoke with food, drinks and seating, several paid lounges at DXB have a dedicated smoking room inside:
- Marhaba Lounges — in Terminals 1, 2 and 3
- Plaza Premium Lounge — Terminal 3, Concourse A
- Ahlan Business Class Lounges — Terminal 1 (Concourse D) and Terminal 3 (Concourses B and C)
- Emirates premium-cabin lounges — Terminal 3, for eligible First and Business passengers
Vaping at Dubai Airport
Vaping is allowed at DXB. E-cigarettes and vapes have been legal in the UAE since April 2019 under federal regulation, and you can use them inside the same designated smoking rooms as cigarettes — not at the gates or in the general terminal. Carry your device and spare batteries in your carry-on, never in checked baggage.
Connecting at DXB: A Smoker’s Tip
Terminals 1 and 3 are joined airside, so if you are connecting between them you can walk to a smoking room in either without clearing immigration — handy on a long layover. Terminal 2 sits across the airfield on its own and is not airside-connected, so a flydubai connection that switches to T1 or T3 (or vice versa) means leaving and re-entering security.
How Dubai Compares
Dubai International is among the best airports in the world for smokers thanks to its indoor rooms in every terminal. Singapore Changi Airport takes a different approach with outdoor gardens and terraces in the transit area, while Istanbul Airport relies instead on a large network of open-air smoking terraces and balconies after security.
