Yes, Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) has designated smoking areas in its single passenger terminal — enclosed indoor smoking rooms both landside and after security, plus outdoor smoking areas by the terminal entrance. As at all UAE airports, the indoor rooms are air-conditioned and ventilated, so you can smoke during a layover without leaving the building.
Airport Layout
Al Maktoum International (DWC) currently operates one compact passenger terminal built for budget and charter operations. It has a single departure hall and a limited number of gates, with a modest run of cafes, a fast-food outlet and a duty-free area. Carriers using DWC are mostly low-cost, charter and seasonal airlines — Wizz Air, Norwegian, Eurowings, SAS and flynas among those that have flown from it — and the schedule changes often. Most travellers flying to or from Dubai still use Dubai International (DXB) instead.
The airport sits in Jebel Ali, roughly 45 km southwest of DXB, on an enormous site now being rebuilt into what is planned to be the world’s largest airport. For now, passenger operations remain modest, so facilities — including the smoking rooms — are more limited than at DXB.
Smoking Areas
Landside, in the check-in and arrivals zone, there is a designated indoor smoking room for anyone not yet through security or arriving on a flight.
Airside, past security, the terminal has an enclosed indoor smoking room for departing passengers, so you can smoke without returning landside. Both rooms are air-conditioned and ventilated in line with UAE Federal Law No. 15 of 2009, which requires airports to provide designated indoor smoking rooms. The terminal is small, so you will not walk far — follow the signage or ask at an information desk — and with a single room per zone, plan for limited capacity at peak times.
Outside the building, you can also smoke in the designated outdoor areas near the entrance, before the check-in hall. Because the airside room is the only option once you have cleared security, there is no need to exit for a cigarette during a layover — leaving would mean passport control and a fresh security screening on the way back in.
Smoking anywhere else inside the terminal — gates, cafes, walkways, restrooms — is prohibited, and vaping follows the same rules as cigarettes.

If you are looking for the wider range of indoor smoking lounges that Dubai is known for, Dubai International Airport (DXB) offers a far more comprehensive setup, with smoking lounges across all three terminals.
