Yes, you can smoke at Dalaman Airport (DLM) — at an open-air terrace after security in the International Terminal, or outside the terminal, landside, where Turkish law permits smoking in the open air. Law No. 4207 bans tobacco use only in enclosed spaces, so every option here is outdoors.
Dalaman Airport serves Turkey’s southwest coast near Marmaris and Fethiye, with separate Domestic and International terminal buildings.
International Terminal — After Security
Travellers who used the International Terminal in September 2024 reported an open-air smoking terrace with tables opposite Gate 39, reached after the second security checkpoint. This is the pattern also used at the open-air smoking terraces after security at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, further up the Aegean coast.
Domestic Terminal
The airport lists no after-security smoking area in the older Domestic Terminal. If you are flying only within Turkey, use the landside option below before you clear security.
Landside (Before Security)
Outside the terminal, landside, is where Turkish law permits smoking in the open air — Law No. 4207 bans tobacco use only in enclosed spaces, so open-air smoking before security is unrestricted at both terminal buildings.
Vaping
Turkey’s Ministry of Health classifies e-cigarettes as a tobacco product under Law No. 4207, so vaping at Dalaman follows the same rule as smoking: the open-air terrace after security in the International Terminal, or landside outside either terminal.
