Stockholm-Västerås Airport (ICAO ESOW) is a compact regional airport in Västerås, about 110 km west of Stockholm, owned by the city and operated by Nya Västerås Flygplats AB. Ryanair is the sole scheduled carrier, flying to London Stansted and Spanish leisure destinations such as Alicante and Málaga; the airport handled around 79,000 passengers in 2024. The single terminal keeps check-in, security and the gates close together, with a café and newsstand landside and a small snack bar and duty-free airside. Since December 2022 it has also served as the region’s designated 24/7 contingency airport.
Smoking Areas
Before security: Smoking is permitted outdoors in the marked designated areas outside the terminal, set back from the doors as Swedish law requires. This is the only place to smoke at the airport.
