Yes, Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) has indoor smoking rooms across all three terminals, available both before and after security. Terminal 5 alone has nine smoking rooms near gates and duty-free areas. Terminal 4 has a booth near Gate D19, and Terminal 2 has rooms after the security checkpoint.
Good news for smokers flying through Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) - Sweden’s largest airport has multiple smoking rooms both before and after security. Unlike many European airports that have eliminated indoor smoking, ARN maintains smoking booths across its terminals.
Smoking Rooms at Terminal 5
Terminal 5 is Arlanda’s largest terminal and handles most international flights. It has nine smoking rooms spread throughout the building:
Gate 3 area - Smoking room available
Gate 13 area - Smoking room available
Level 3 - Near Duty Free shopping
Level 4 - Near Gates F65/67
Throughout Terminal 5 - Small glass smoking cabins scattered around
Outside Terminal 5, designated smoking areas are available where buses and taxis drop passengers for departure.
Smoking Areas at Terminal 4
Terminal 4 serves some European destinations and charter flights. As of February 2025, Terminal 4 has smoking facilities after security:
Gate D19 area - Smoking booth after security and passport control (travellers describe it as clean and well-maintained)
Lower level of Gate 30 - Additional smoking area
Smoking Areas at Terminal 2
Terminal 2 primarily handles domestic flights and some European routes:
Entrance floor - Smoking area after security, right by the stairs
Entrance A, Level 3 - Additional smoking room
Vaping and Snus
Vaping follows the cigarette rules at Arlanda: use the designated indoor smoking rooms or the marked outdoor spots for e-cigarettes and heat-not-burn devices such as IQOS. Swedish snus is smokeless and needs no designated area at all — you can use it anywhere in the terminal, and it is sold in the airport shops.
Recent Changes
Since July 2019, smoking has been prohibited in most indoor areas at Swedish airports. However, designated smoking rooms remain available at Arlanda. Note that outdoor smoking areas around Terminal 5 have been reduced recently - non-smoking signs have been painted on the floor in many previously permitted areas. Always look for the enclosed glass smoking rooms to be sure you’re in a permitted zone.
