Yes, you can smoke at Ibiza Airport (IBZ) — at the designated outdoor areas outside the terminal, on both the departures level and the arrivals level. The terminal interior is smoke-free and there is no smoking area after security, so smoke before you go through to the gates.
Ibiza Airport is the Balearic island’s single-terminal gateway, and in summer it is one of the busiest charter and party-season airports in the Mediterranean, feeding San Antonio, Playa d’en Bossa, and Ibiza Town. Everything runs from one building, so your smoking options are the outdoor areas by the terminal doors — landside, before security.
Before Security (Departures)
Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the terminal, so on the departures side you smoke outside the building. There are designated outdoor areas directly outside the departures doors, with ashtrays provided, on the upper concourse where the check-in halls are. Step outside, find a marked smoking spot, and you are clear to light up.
Time it before you clear security. Ibiza’s queues swell in the summer peak, when back-to-back holiday charters push through in the same few hours, so leave yourself a margin — once you are past the security checkpoint there is no way to smoke without leaving and coming back through. If you have checked a bag and still have time, you can go back outside the departures doors for a cigarette before joining the security line.
After Security (Airside)
Ibiza Airport has no airside smoking area. Once you pass through the security checkpoint, the boarding-gate concourse, the shops, the bars, and the toilets are all smoke-free, and there is no open-air terrace out among the gates as there is at some other Spanish airports. Arriving passengers follow the same rule. Wait until you have cleared passport control if you are on a non-Schengen arrival, collected your bags from the reclaim hall, and stepped outside the arrivals doors on the lower level. There is an outdoor area by the arrivals exit, near the taxi rank and the bus stops, where you can smoke while you wait for a lift or a transfer.
Vaping
Vaping is treated the same as smoking at Ibiza. E-cigarettes are not allowed inside the terminal, so use the outdoor areas outside the departures or arrivals doors for both cigarettes and vapes. Do not vape in the toilets — it can trigger the smoke detectors.
