Yes, Malaga Airport (AGP) has designated open-air smoking areas outside the terminal — and, unusually for Spain, travellers report one airside terrace after security by Gate D72 in the Schengen gates. Landside, the zones are outside Terminal 3 departures (Level 2) and arrivals (Level 0). AGP runs two adjacent, interconnected terminals: T2 (piers B and C, used by easyJet and non-Schengen flights) and T3 (the Schengen “D” pier, used by most other carriers).

Before Security (Landside)
Terminal 3 Departures (Level 2): The main outdoor smoking area is outside the departures entrance of Terminal 3, which handles the vast majority of passenger flights. Standing ashtrays line the curbside area.
Terminal 3 Arrivals (Level 0): Outdoor area near the arrivals exit, taxi rank, and car hire zone. This is the most spacious smoking option and benefits from Málaga’s year-round sunshine.
Terminal 2: The older, smaller terminal has outdoor space near its entrance, though most passengers use Terminal 3.
Airside (After Security)
Travellers consistently report one post-security smoking spot: an open-air terrace by Gate D72, in the Schengen (D) gates area of Terminal 3, fitted with ashtrays and benches. It is not listed in AENA’s official services, so treat it as subject to change rather than guaranteed. If you are flying within the Schengen zone you can reach it without leaving the secure area. Non-Schengen passengers (UK, Ireland, and long-haul flights) pass through passport control toward other gates and may not have access — if in doubt, smoke in the landside areas before security, as re-clearing screening can take up to 30 minutes.
