Yes, you can smoke at Busan Gimhae International Airport (PUS). Smoking is permitted in the designated outdoor smoking areas located beside both the International Terminal and the Domestic Terminal, a short walk from the main departure entrances. Korea Airports Corporation removed the in-terminal smoking rooms as part of a nationwide push to cut secondhand smoke, so the marked outdoor zones along the kerb and to the sides of each building are now the places to light up.
International Terminal
The International Terminal handles Busan’s overseas departures and is where most foreign travelers pass through. The smoking area here is outdoors, set to the side of the building near the 2nd-floor departures entrance on the landside (before security and immigration). Follow the green smoking-area signage along the kerb. Because indoor smoking rooms were withdrawn, smoke here before you check in and clear immigration, since options past the secure boundary are very limited.
Domestic Terminal
The Domestic Terminal is in a separate building from the International Terminal and serves flights to Seoul Gimpo, Jeju and other Korean cities. Its designated outdoor smoking spots sit to the sides of the terminal, deliberately moved away from the front entrance doors so smoke doesn’t drift toward the main flow of passengers. Step outside, look for the smoking-area signs, and you’ll find the marked spots a short walk from the doors.
Outside the Terminals
Both terminals share the same approach: the dependable place to smoke at Gimhae is outdoors at ground level, near the departures kerb and along the sides of each building. The zones are signposted and have ashtrays. Give yourself a few minutes before security if you want a final cigarette, as the outdoor areas are landside.
