No, you cannot smoke inside Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG). The former airside smoking room has closed, and smoking is now permitted only at designated outdoor areas outside the terminal, landside.
Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport is Serbia’s main international gateway and the hub of national carrier Air Serbia, handling the bulk of the country’s air traffic. If you smoke, plan to do so before security or after you have exited the building.
Where to Smoke
Smoking at BEG is outdoors only, landside, at the designated areas outside the terminal entrances. Step outside the building, find a marked smoking spot, and you are clear to light up.
Travellers report that the old airside smoking area, by Gate C3, closed in 2024 and is no longer available — do not count on it. To smoke once you are past security, you will need to exit and re-clear security to reach the outdoor landside areas.
Note that the “IQOS Zone” in the airside Duty Free is a retail kiosk for heated-tobacco products, not a place to smoke. It does not serve as a smoking room.
Serbia’s 2010 tobacco law permits ventilated indoor smoking rooms — the kind that once allowed BEG to run its airside room — but the airport no longer operates one.
Vaping
Serbia treats e-cigarettes like tobacco. Vaping is not allowed inside the terminal, so use the outdoor smoking areas for both cigarettes and vapes.
