Roshchino is in the middle of a major expansion: a new domestic terminal opened on 5 March 2025, with the full multi-level complex being completed in phases through 2025–2027. The indoor smoking room sits in the airside clean zone on the 2nd floor, past the pre-flight formalities and just behind the souvenir shop. It is free to use — the airport briefly trialled a paid entrance in 2025 but reverted it to free after passenger complaints, and its management has confirmed it does not plan to charge for access. The room was modernised as part of the new terminal, with a ventilation system that vents smoke outside so other passengers are not affected. Look for the signed smoking room on the departures level, or ask airport staff to point you to it.

If you want to smoke before passing through security, head to the outdoor designated areas near the terminal entrances on the curbside, kept at least 15 metres from the doors as Russian law requires. These are the easiest option when you arrive with time before check-in.
