Yes, you can smoke at Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN) — outdoors, landside, outside the terminal building, where Polish law permits smoking in the open air. A single 2025 traveller report also describes an enclosed cabin airside in the Schengen departures hall; that hasn’t been independently confirmed since, so don’t count on it.
Gdańsk operates from a single passenger terminal, split after security into Schengen and non-Schengen zones. If your trip continues through the south of the country, Kraków Airport (KRK) has confirmed airside smoking lounges in both its Schengen and non-Schengen zones.
Landside (Before Security) — Confirmed
The only confirmed smoking option at Gdańsk is outdoors, landside, outside the terminal building — the default under Polish law for open-air spaces. This is also what you’ll use on arrival, since the terminal itself stays smoke-free until you’re outside.
Reported Airside Cabin (Unconfirmed)
A July 2025 report on the travel site rabbittranspoland.com describes an enclosed smoking cabin airside in the Schengen departures hall, near the Aelia Duty Free shop. Older traveller accounts from 2018–2019 placed a similar cabin around gates G14 and G21–G22, in the same general area; no second report from 2024 or later has independently confirmed the 2025 account. If you find it, treat the location as a bonus rather than a guarantee — the outdoor area is the fallback either way. There is no report of any indoor cabin on the non-Schengen side.
Vaping
Poland’s 22 July 2016 amendment to the tobacco-products health law extends the same indoor and enclosed-public-place rules to e-cigarettes, so vape outdoors landside at Gdańsk along with cigarettes. The airport publishes no separate rule for heated-tobacco devices.
