Good news for anyone flying through Seattle this summer: Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) opened its rebuilt C Concourse to passengers on June 11, 2026, just in time to welcome 2026 FIFA World Cup visitors through the Pacific Northwest’s busiest gateway.
After three years of construction, the concourse reopened bigger and brighter — four floors, 11 new restaurants and retail spots, far more open seating, a glass lookout deck, and a striking “Tree at C” art installation meant to evoke a Pacific Northwest forest canopy. There is even a new outdoor patio with views of the airfield.
What’s new in C Concourse
- The footprint roughly tripled, from about 81,000 to 229,500 square feet, in a project reported at around $399 million — and the airport pulled it off without losing a single gate.
- 11 new dining and retail spots, plus a new Alaska Airlines Lounge.
- An interfaith prayer and meditation room and a nursing room.
- A glass-encased lookout deck with Olympic Mountains views, and an open-air patio overlooking the airfield.
Where smokers stand at SEA
Good to know before you fly: SEA keeps smoking simple and outdoors. You can light up at the airport’s three designated outdoor smoking areas on Lower Drive, near Doors 5, 00, and 29 — all easy to find and clearly marked. The smart move is to enjoy your cigarette there before you clear security, since Washington’s Clean Indoor Air Act (RCW 70.160) keeps the terminal and concourses smoke-free.
So treat the new C Concourse patio as a lovely spot for plane-spotting and fresh air, and use the Lower Drive areas for a smoke break. If you are connecting and want a cigarette, step out to Lower Drive before heading airside. Full locations are on our Seattle-Tacoma (SEA) smoking guide.
Bottom line: the World Cup makeover gives SEA travelers more dining, more space, and a great new view — and smokers stay well served at the familiar Lower Drive areas.
