Yes, you can smoke at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM). There is a designated airside smoking area in the international departure hall after immigration and security, plus an indoor smoking room in the landside Executive Lounge.
As Nepal’s only international gateway, KTM handles nearly all of the country’s overseas air traffic, so it keeps designated indoor and airside smoking facilities for transiting and departing passengers.
Where to Smoke
Airside (after security): There is a designated smoking facility in the international departure and gate-hold hall, past immigration and security. Travellers report it on the far left when facing the gates, though signage is limited — ask a staff member if you can’t spot it.
Landside (Executive Lounge): An enclosed indoor smoking room is located in the Executive (Radisson) Lounge on the 2nd floor, before the final security check. Lounge access is required to use it.
Domestic terminal: The domestic terminal has an outdoor smoking area located outside the building.
Nepal’s tobacco law (§4(2)) lets airports designate ventilated smoking areas, which is why KTM is able to provide these facilities. Note that the airside Horizon Lounge is non-smoking.
Vaping
Nepal restricts e-cigarettes: consumption in public places — including airports — is prohibited, and there are no vaping facilities anywhere in the terminal. Treat vaping as banned airside and indoors, and do not assume the smoking rooms allow it.
