Yes, you can smoke outdoors at Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) — outside the terminal. There is no indoor smoking room, so smoke before you clear security.
Outdoor Smoking
Smoke outside the terminal building, landside, away from the entrance doors. WDH is Namibia’s main international gateway, about 45 km east of Windhoek, run by the Namibia Airports Company. Once you pass through security and passport control there is no indoor smoking option, so step out before you go through.
Inside the Terminal — No Indoor Smoking
The single airside lounge, the Paragon Premium Lounge (after passport control, for international and in-transit passengers), is a non-smoking lounge. WDH did previously have lounges with smoking rooms, but those closed in 2023, so there is no longer any indoor airside smoking facility. The airport has been running a congestion-alleviation upgrade, with a larger new terminal in planning.
Hosea Kutako Airport Smoking Policy
Namibia’s Tobacco Products Control Act bans smoking in all enclosed public places, with no carve-out for indoor smoking rooms. That is why the terminal is fully non-smoking and the lounge does not allow smoking. All smoking is outdoors.
