Yes. You can smoke at Luxembourg Airport at the designated outdoor smoking areas directly in front of the Terminal A entrance, on the landside before security. These marked outdoor points, by the departures and arrivals doors, are the only place to smoke at the airport, so make one your last stop before you head inside to check in or clear security.
Luxembourg-Findel International Airport (LUX), branded lux-Airport, is the Grand Duchy’s only commercial airport and runs from a single connected passenger complex. Smoking is landside and outdoor-only here: there is no smoking room inside the building and no smoking area after security. The plan is simple once you know it — smoke outside first, then go airside for good.
The Terminal at a Glance
The airport has two connected sections. Terminal A is the main building across three levels: check-in and the entrance hall on the ground level, security and the departure lounge with gates above, and arrivals and baggage claim below. Terminal B is a smaller gates-only satellite for regional aircraft of up to about 110 passengers; it has no check-in desks and is reached airside from Terminal A. Neither section has an indoor smoking room or an airside smoking terrace, so the outdoor landside points are the single option for the whole airport.
Where to Smoke — Outside Terminal A (Landside)
The designated smoking areas sit outdoors, directly in front of the Terminal A building, by the main departures and arrivals entrance. Because they are landside, before the security checkpoint, they are easy to reach the moment you are dropped off, when you step out of the car park, or before you join the check-in queue. This is also where returning passengers light up first, straight out of arrivals. Look for the marked smoking points and ashtrays near the doors.
After Security: No Airside Smoking
Once you clear the central security checkpoint, you are committed to a smoke-free environment for the rest of your time in the airport. The official airport confirms there is no smoking area after security, and the same applies in the Terminal B gates satellite. Crucially, the layout does not let you step back out and return — once you pass through security you cannot go back to the outdoor area without exiting and re-clearing the checkpoint. For a connecting itinerary through LUX, that means leaving the secure area entirely, smoking out front, and passing back through security for your onward flight. Time your final cigarette outside Terminal A accordingly and allow a comfortable margin to reach your gate.
Vaping
Yes, you can vape in the outdoor areas in front of Terminal A. Since 1 January 2026, e-cigarettes and vapes follow the same rules as cigarettes in Luxembourg, so they are not permitted inside the terminal or airside; use the designated outdoor points landside.
