Yes, you can smoke at Bishkek Manas Airport, which keeps a designated indoor smoking lounge airside after security, open around the clock, plus outdoor smoking at the terminal entrances landside.
Manas International Airport is Kyrgyzstan’s principal gateway, a short drive north of Bishkek, and its IATA code officially changed from FRU to BSZ on 9 August 2025, so you may still see it written either way — it is worth searching both codes when booking. The airport is fully operational in 2026: a newly built western section opened on 14 May 2026 with expanded check-in, a renovated sterile zone, and a new arrivals hall; the original terminal is now closed for a major reconstruction. The rebuild grows the terminal to roughly 70,000 square metres and lifts the check-in counters from 26 to 70, so the interior layout is actively changing through the year.
Where to Smoke Airside
After security, a designated indoor smoking lounge is reported with seating and TVs and open 24 hours, so it is available whatever time your flight departs. Kyrgyzstan’s tobacco law keeps indoor public places smoke-free and explicitly permits designated smoking rooms inside airports, which is why Manas can offer an enclosed airside lounge. Entrances and departures have shifted into the new western wing during the 2025–2026 reconstruction, so the lounge’s exact position may have moved — follow signage or ask staff on arrival.
Manas also runs paid business lounges airside: an International Departures lounge on the second floor near Gate 5, open 24 hours with showers, and a domestic lounge near Gate 2. A lounge makes a comfortable base between cigarettes, with the smoking itself done in the airport’s designated smoking lounge. With the 24-hour opening, an overnight layover or an early-morning departure is covered either way.
Where to Smoke Landside
Smoking is permitted outdoors at the terminal entrances, before you pass through security. This is the regional norm for stepping out for a cigarette on arrival or ahead of check-in, so it covers you at both ends of your journey through Manas. If you land in Bishkek and clear immigration, the landside forecourt is the quickest place to light up before onward transport into the city.
Vaping
E-cigarettes and vapes are comprehensively banned across Kyrgyzstan, with import, circulation, and use all prohibited. Do not vape anywhere at the airport.
