Kuwait International Airport (KWI) has one confirmed indoor smoking room airside, inside the Hayakom Lounge in Terminal 5, the Jazeera Airways building. Terminal 4’s operator lists two airside rooms of its own and marks them closed on the same page, and Terminal 1 has been closed since 3 June 2026. The airport sits at the thin end of the Gulf pattern of indoor smoker accommodation shared with the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.
For travellers, the extreme summer heat (45-50°C in July-August) makes the air-conditioned indoor room particularly welcome — outdoor smoking is genuinely uncomfortable during Kuwait summer.
Kuwait International Airport (KWI)
Terminal 1. The older main terminal, closed since 3 June 2026 with no reopening date announced. The international airlines that used to depart from here now check in and board at Terminal 4 — Kuwait International’s terminal-by-terminal smoking rooms cover where to go in each building.
Terminal 4. Opened 2018 for Kuwait Airways and now also handling the international carriers displaced from Terminal 1. The terminal operator lists two indoor smoking rooms airside — by the duty-free shop opposite Gate B5 and on the second floor between gates D6 and D7 — and the same facilities page has carried the notice “All Smoking rooms are closed” since 2021, so verify on arrival.
Terminal 5. The low-cost building used by Jazeera Airways. Its smoking room sits inside the Hayakom Lounge, renamed from the Pearl Lounge, right after security; entry is on a pay-in basis and Priority Pass is accepted. Landside smoking is outside the terminal entrances.
