Kuwait Airport Smoking Regulations
Law No. 15/1995 restricts smoking in public places across Kuwait, and the country has progressively tightened tobacco regulations in recent years. Airports are required to provide designated smoking rooms, and Kuwait International Airport maintains enclosed smoking facilities in its terminals. Kuwait’s extreme summer heat, which regularly exceeds 50°C, makes outdoor smoking impractical for much of the year, so indoor facilities are particularly important. The newer Terminal 4, designed by Foster+Partners and opened in 2022 for Kuwait Airways operations, includes modern smoking rooms with ventilation. Terminal 1, which serves other airlines, also has designated areas. Tobacco products are available at airport duty-free shops with GCC excise taxes applied. The legal status of e-cigarettes in Kuwait has fluctuated, so travellers should verify current regulations before bringing vaping devices into the country.
