# Kosovo Airport Smoking Areas

Kosovo’s only international airport is Pristina Adem Jashari International Airport (PRN), and smoking there happens outdoors: outside the terminal building, landside, before security. The airport reopened a rebuilt passenger terminal in June 2024, and its interior — including the gates area — is smoke-free.

## How Kosovo Airport Smoking Works

Kosovo’s Law on Tobacco Control (Law No. 04/L-156, amended in 2021 by Law No. 08/L-040) bans smoking in nearly all indoor public places and workplaces; designated indoor smoking rooms are permitted only in a short list of settings such as healthcare facilities, retirement communities, prisons and hotel rooms:

- **Smoking outdoors** at Pristina Airport, outside the terminal building, before security, is lawful under the law’s indoor-only scope
- The terminal interior and airside area, past security, have no smoking facility
- The terminal building, including check-in, the departure hall and the gates area, is **smoke-free**
- **E-cigarettes** are not covered by a specific national law; the airport publishes no separate vaping rule

## Tips for Smokers at Kosovo Airports

- Pristina’s smoking option is landside, outside the terminal, before security
- Kosovo has no specific vaping law, and the airport posts no separate rule — the same outdoor area works for e-cigarettes
- The rebuilt terminal that opened in June 2024 has no post-security smoking facility, so plan a layover smoke break before security
- Ask airport information if you need the current location for outdoor smoking

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Can you smoke at Pristina Adem Jashari International Airport (PRN)?

Yes — outside the terminal building, landside, where Kosovo’s tobacco law permits smoking in the open air. Pristina is Kosovo’s only international airport, and its rebuilt terminal, reopened in June 2024, keeps the interior smoke-free.

### Is there a smoking area after security at Pristina Airport?

Smoke landside, outside the terminal building, before security — no post-security smoking facility exists in the terminal that reopened in June 2024\.

### Are e-cigarettes and vapes allowed at Kosovo airports?

Yes — use the same outdoor areas outside the terminal as for cigarettes. Pristina Airport publishes no separate rule for e-cigarettes, and Kosovo has no specific law covering vaping.

### Where can I smoke at Pristina Airport?

Outside the terminal building, landside, before you go through security. The terminal building is smoke-free throughout.

### What is Kosovo's airport smoking law?

Kosovo’s Law on Tobacco Control (Law No. 04/L-156, amended in 2021 by Law No. 08/L-040) bans smoking in nearly all indoor public places and workplaces; designated indoor smoking rooms are permitted only in a short list of settings such as healthcare facilities, retirement communities, prisons and hotel rooms — airports are not among them, which is why Pristina’s smoking option is outdoors.
