Yes, Oita Airport (OIT) has designated indoor smoking rooms. The handiest one is on the 2nd floor inside the boarding waiting area after security, so you can smoke before boarding, with a second 2nd-floor room behind the cash corner and a landside room on the 1st floor at the north side of the passenger building.
Oita Airport is the gateway to Oita Prefecture and the hot-spring city of Beppu on the east coast of Kyushu, recently rebranded as Oita Hello Kitty Airport. It is a compact single-terminal airport handling mostly domestic flights to Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, plus international service to Seoul. The terminal building is entirely no-smoking, so smoking is confined to enclosed, ventilated rooms marked 喫煙所.
2nd Floor Smoking Rooms (After Security)
The most convenient option for departing passengers is the smoking room on the 2nd floor, inside the boarding waiting area. Once you have passed the security check, follow the 喫煙所 signage in the departure lounge — the enclosed room lets you smoke and still stay within the secure zone right up to boarding. There is also a second 2nd-floor smoking room behind the cash corner. Note that Lounge Kunisaki, on the same floor, is non-smoking, so use these rooms instead.
1st Floor Smoking Area (Before Security)
If you arrive early or are seeing someone off, there is a smoking area on the 1st floor at the north side of the passenger building, before the security checkpoint. This is the spot to use while you wait in the public concourse or after collecting bags in the arrivals area on the ground floor.
Heated Tobacco and Vaping
Heated tobacco products — IQOS, glo and Ploom — and e-cigarettes are used in the same designated smoking rooms as regular cigarettes. There are no separate vaping booths; the enclosed 喫煙所 rooms serve all products.
