Yes, you can smoke at Matsuyama Airport (MYJ), on the island of Shikoku, in five designated smoking areas across the terminal: three enclosed indoor rooms and two outdoor areas, with rooms after security in both the domestic and international boarding lounges.
Domestic Terminal — 2F
The airport’s own facility page and floor guide place two smoking rooms on the domestic side of 2F: one in the departure lobby, before the security checkpoint, and one inside the boarding waiting room, after it. Departing domestic passengers can therefore smoke either before or after they clear security.
International Terminal — 2F
The international side has one smoking room, inside the 2F boarding waiting room, after the international security checkpoint — a landside option is not published for the international terminal, so international departures should use the outdoor areas before they clear security.
Outdoor Smoking Areas
Matsuyama Airport also lists two outdoor smoking areas on its facility page: one on the terminal building’s east side, near the Jetstar counter, and one near the international arrival lobby entrance. Photos on the airport’s own page show one of these outdoor areas built as a covered shelter split into two marked zones — a cigarette area and a heated-tobacco “IQOS Spot” area supported by Philip Morris Japan — so cigarette and heated-tobacco users have separate, clearly signed sections.
Vaping and Heated Tobacco
The airport’s smoking-area page does not publish a separate rule for liquid e-cigarettes; confirm with airport staff before vaping. Heated tobacco such as IQOS, glo or Ploom has its own signed zone within one of the two outdoor smoking areas, sponsored by Philip Morris Japan; the airport does not state a separate heated-tobacco policy for the three indoor rooms.
