Yes, you can smoke at Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport (HLP) — in the enclosed smoking room inside the Saphire Lounge, landside on the first floor of the Departures Hall, before security. The lounge accepts Priority Pass and DragonPass membership as well as a paid walk-in pass, so any departing passenger can use it regardless of airline or class of travel.
Halim serves East Jakarta as the capital’s secondary airport, complementing the larger Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) across town. It now handles mostly domestic flights since Garuda Indonesia moved its Halim-based flights to CGK in January 2026; international movements are largely limited to cargo, charter and VVIP traffic. The whole passenger operation runs through a single terminal building.
Before Security: The Saphire Lounge
The confirmed smoking option at HLP is inside the Saphire Lounge, on the first floor of the Departures Hall near check-in — landside, so you use it before you clear security. Multiple lounge-access listings, including Priority Pass’s own page for the airport, describe a separate enclosed smoking room within the lounge. Entry doesn’t require a same-day ticket on a particular airline: show a Priority Pass or DragonPass card, or buy a walk-in pass at the desk.
After Security
There is no confirmed smoking facility after security at HLP. If your flight has already cleared the checkpoint, there’s no verified room or area to smoke before boarding — use the landside Saphire Lounge ahead of time instead.
Jakarta’s own smoke-free-area regulation (Perda DKI Jakarta No. 7/2025) sets tight limits on where smoking is allowed at public transportation facilities in the capital, and no confirmed outdoor smoking spot at Halim exists under it — some other Indonesian airports have one, Halim doesn’t. The Saphire Lounge is the one verified place to smoke.
Vaping
HLP publishes no vaping-specific rule, and Indonesia’s Government Regulation No. 28/2024 regulates e-cigarettes rather than banning them outright. Treat a vape the same as a cigarette and use the Saphire Lounge smoking room.
