Yes, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta Airport (CGK) has designated indoor smoking rooms in all three terminals, accessible after security. Terminal 3 has rooms near Gates 1, 2, 8 for international and Gates 12 and 18 for domestic flights. Terminal 2 has rooms near the E gates, and Terminal 1 has a smoking room in the gates area.
Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) is Indonesia’s largest and busiest airport, serving as the main gateway to the country. Good news for smokers: CGK has designated smoking rooms in all three terminals, both before and after security. This guide covers all smoking zones at CGK so you can find one near your gate.
Smoking Rooms at Soekarno-Hatta Airport
Smoking is strictly prohibited in all public areas of the airport. However, CGK provides designated smoking rooms with ventilation systems throughout the terminals. These rooms are free to use.
Terminal 3 – International Departures
Terminal 3 handles most international flights and has three smoking rooms in the departure area:
Near Gate 8 – Air-conditioned with moderate ventilation
Near Gate 1 – Close to the start of the gate area
Near Gate 2 – Central location
There is also an outdoor smoking area right outside Terminal 3, and some coffee shops near the terminal offer outdoor seating where smoking is permitted.
Terminal 3 – Domestic Departures
The domestic section of Terminal 3 has two smoking rooms:
Near Gate 18 – In the domestic departure area
Near Gate 12 – Behind the Subway restaurant
Terminal 2
Terminal 2 has several smoking options:
Bar area near E gates – Smoking room in a bar along the E gates corridor
Near Gate E1 – Smoking lounge right after the gate area
Coffee Bean cafe – Has a designated smoking area
Terminal 1
Terminal 1 offers:
Gates area – One large smoking room in the main gates area
Garuda Indonesia Lounge – Two smoking rooms inside the lounge (lounge access required)
Outside Terminals
At Arrivals
As reported by a traveller in our Airport Smoking community, arriving passengers can walk straight across the road opposite the terminal exit to find a small park where many locals and cab drivers smoke. It is a convenient outdoor spot if you need a cigarette before heading into Jakarta. Signposting is minimal, so just follow where you see people smoking.
Airport Lounges with Smoking
Several airport lounges at CGK include smoking facilities among their amenities. A recent contribution from our Airport Smoking community (see Community Photos below) highlights the Plaza Premium Lounge as offering one of the best smoking rooms at CGK:
Plaza Premium Lounge – Has a well-maintained smoking room inside the lounge; accessible with Priority Pass or paid entry
Garuda Indonesia Lounge (Terminal 1) – Two smoking rooms inside the lounge
Terminal 2 gate lounges – Several lounges between T2 gates include smoking rooms alongside prayer rooms and private working areas
If you have lounge access through your airline or Priority Pass, check if your lounge has a smoking room — it is often more comfortable than the public rooms near the gates.
Tips for Smokers at CGK
Terminal 3 is best – The newest terminal with the most smoking facilities
Allow extra time – CGK is a large airport, so give yourself time to find the smoking rooms
Look for signs – Smoking rooms are marked with standard Indonesian signage
Outdoor option – If you’re in Terminal 3 before security, there’s an outdoor smoking area outside
