Looking for a place to smoke at Pune Airport? Here is your guide to smoking areas at PNQ, a growing airport that serves Maharashtra’s second-largest city.
Smoking Areas at Pune Airport
Pune International currently operates from a single terminal. Smoking rooms are available after clearing security.
Departures (Post-Security):
- 1st Floor, opposite the tea counter: Indoor smoking zone
- Near Gate 9: Indoor smoking room in the departures area
Outside the Terminal:
- Smoking is permitted outside the terminal building near the parking area and taxi pickup zone
New Terminal
A new terminal with twice the capacity of the existing facility was officially opened in March 2024, with full operations expected by 2025-2026. Smoking zone locations for the new terminal have not yet been published. Check with airport staff on arrival for the latest information.
Pune Airport Smoking Policy
India’s COTPA regulations allow designated smoking areas in airports. PNQ has indoor smoking rooms accessible post-security. Smoking outside designated areas is prohibited with fines of INR 200.
Pune Airport is a dual-use military-civilian facility (Lohegaon Air Force Station), which may affect terminal access during certain times. The airport is expanding to handle international flights to European destinations planned for 2026.
