Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (LKO) is Uttar Pradesh’s main air gateway, connecting the state capital to major Indian cities and select international destinations. The airport has a designated indoor smoking zone accessible after security.
Inside Terminals
The smoking zone is on the first floor, directly opposite Gate 4 next to the restrooms. After clearing security, take the stairs or escalator up to the first floor and you’ll see it on your left.

The room is ventilated and clearly marked with signage. This is the only airside smoking area at LKO — there are no additional rooms near other gates, so plan your visit before settling at your departure gate.
Outside Terminals
Smoking is permitted at designated outdoor areas near the departures entrance. The parking area and forecourt have open-air spots with ashtrays. If arriving, look for the outdoor smoking area near the arrivals exit.
Tips for Smokers at LKO
- The Gate 4 smoking room is your only indoor option after security. If your gate is at the far end of the terminal, allow 5-10 minutes for the round trip
- The airport is undergoing expansion work. If the first floor smoking room is temporarily closed during construction, ask staff for alternate arrangements
- E-cigarettes and vaping are completely banned across India — do not carry them
- Cigarette shops are available before security in the main terminal building
- LKO handles both domestic and international flights. The smoking area on the first floor serves domestic departures; international passengers should confirm access with staff
