No designated indoor smoking room is documented at Ayodhya’s airport (AYJ). To smoke, step outside the terminal building before you go through security.

The airport (officially Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhya Dham) opened in early 2024 and has a modern terminal handling several domestic flights a day to cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Despite the “International” branding, scheduled service is currently domestic only. No enclosed smoking lounge is listed among its passenger facilities, so plan to smoke outside the terminal before security.

Where to smoke

  • In the open air outside the terminal, away from entrances and other travellers.
  • Smoke before you clear security and allow time to pass through again.

Smoking inside the enclosed terminal is not allowed under Indian law, with a fine of about ₹200 for smoking in non-designated spots.
