Smoking Zone at Delhi Airport Terminal 3 (T3)
Terminal 3 is the main international terminal and also handles Air India and Vistara domestic flights. T3 has the most smoking areas of any terminal at Delhi Airport.
T3 International Departures
After clearing immigration and security, Terminal 3 has several smoking zones in the international departures area:
Opposite Gate 15 — This is the best smoking zone at Delhi Airport. It is a covered outdoor area with plenty of space, built-in lighter facilities, and a cigarette sales kiosk right next to it. Well signposted and easy to find.
Opposite Gate 6 — After the duty-free shops heading towards gates 1-14, the smoking zone is on the right wing a few meters across from the restrooms.

T3 Domestic Departures
Terminal 3 domestic departures has 3 smoking areas after security:
- First floor between the eateries and the lounges
- Left side before the ramp towards the gates, at the end of the food stalls
- Behind the flight display screens between the left and right concourses
T3 International Arrival
A smoking zone is available before immigration on the first floor. When you disembark and walk towards immigration, look for the smoking area before the escalator going down. This is ideal for transit passengers connecting to another flight, as you can access it without clearing immigration. A cigarette shop is attached to this smoking zone.

T3 Domestic Arrival
Based on recent updates from our Airport Smoking community (see Community Photos and Tips below), a large, air-conditioned smoking zone is available in the domestic arrival hall, located just before the escalators that go down to the baggage belts. Travellers describe it as one of the more comfortable smoking rooms at Delhi Airport and a welcome relief after a domestic flight, before heading down to collect luggage.

A small enclosed smoking room is located outside Terminal 3, next to the multilevel car parking (MLCP). To reach it from inside the terminal, follow the “App Based Taxi” signage — the route to the Uber, Ola and Bharat Taxi pickup points passes the smoking room. It is a convenient spot for a quick smoke before entering the terminal at the start of your trip, or right after arrival before booking a cab back into the city.

Tips for Smokers at Delhi Airport
Delhi Airport is one of the best-equipped airports in India for smokers, with indoor smoking zones after security in all three terminals. The standout facility is the covered area opposite Gate 15 in T3 international departures — it has the most space, lighter facilities, and a cigarette kiosk right next to it.
Lighters and matchboxes are confiscated at security on all flights from Delhi Airport, but every smoking room inside the terminal has built-in electric lighters. You can carry cigarettes in your hand luggage without any issues. E-cigarettes and vapes are completely banned across India under the PECA Act 2019. The Union Health Ministry clarified in 2023 that the ban extends to personal possession — even carrying a single device is illegal. First offences attract up to 1 year imprisonment and a ₹1 lakh fine; repeat offences up to 3 years and ₹5 lakh.
If you are a transit passenger connecting through T3, use the smoking zone before immigration on the first floor — you can access it without clearing immigration. For a quick smoke before entering the terminal, the small smoking room near the T3 multilevel car parking is the easiest option.
Keep in mind that you cannot walk between terminals airside at Delhi Airport. Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 are connected by a free shuttle bus, but Terminal 2 requires separate access. Plan your smoking break around your departure terminal. Smoking outside designated areas carries a ₹200 fine under COTPA.
