Yes, Nantes Atlantique Airport (NTE) has marked outdoor smoking areas with ashtrays in front of the terminal, along the entrances serving Halls 1 to 4 and near the P2 and P3 car-park pedestrian accesses. All zones are landside (before the security checkpoint), so the best plan is to smoke at the front of the building before heading upstairs to security and the gates.
Terminal Layout
Nantes runs a single L-shaped passenger terminal split into four numbered halls on one connected level landside. Hall 1 holds arrivals and most food, drink and information services; Hall 2 leads toward the boarding area; Hall 3 serves boarding gates 21-53 and connects through to Hall 4, which covers gates 61-65. Check-in and baggage claim sit on the ground floor, while security and the gates are upstairs. Because all four halls join up before the checkpoint, you can walk the whole terminal frontage and reach any smoking area without re-entering security.
Halls 1-4 Frontage (Landside)
The main smoking areas are spread along the front of the terminal, by the entrance doors that serve the four halls. Look for ashtrays and floor markings a short distance from each set of doors. Since the halls are linked landside, you can use whichever zone is nearest your check-in or arrivals hall.
- Marked areas outside the Hall 1 / Hall 2 entrances on the departures frontage
- Marked areas along the Hall 3 / Hall 4 side of the building
- Near the kiss-and-fly drop-off lane in front of the terminal
These zones are uncovered, so allow for weather, and keep clear of the doorways themselves where smoking is not allowed.
Car Parks P2 and P3
If you arrive on foot from parking, there are smoking areas near the P2 and P3 pedestrian accesses close to the terminal. These are handy if you want a last cigarette before walking in, or a first one after collecting bags from Hall 1 arrivals.
After Security and Airside
Once you pass the upstairs security checkpoint, smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere in Halls 2, 3 or 4 or at any gate. There is no indoor smoking room and no airside terrace. For a connecting flight you would have to exit landside through arrivals, smoke at the front zones, and clear security again, so smoke before the checkpoint whenever possible.
