Yes, Hurghada International Airport (HRG) has designated indoor smoking cabins for passengers. Both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 have post-security smoking cabins, the arrivals baggage halls each have a cabin near the carousels, and there are marked outdoor areas outside the terminals before security.
Hurghada International Airport is Egypt’s second-busiest airport and the main gateway to the Red Sea Riviera, handling millions of European and Russian charter and low-cost holidaymakers each year. Because it serves so many leisure travelers on long charter waits, smoking provision is reasonably good — there are indoor cabins on both the arrivals and departures sides of both terminals.
Airport Layout
Hurghada operates two passenger terminals. Terminal 1 is the older terminal handling some legacy, domestic and regional traffic. Terminal 2, opened in 2015, is the large modern terminal that handles the bulk of European and Russian charter and low-cost flights, with 72 check-in counters, jet-bridge and bus gates, lounges and extensive retail. The terminals are separate buildings, so confirm which one your flight uses.
Smoking Areas
Smoking is confined to the marked indoor cabins and outdoor areas, not the open terminal halls.
Terminal 1
After security, Terminal 1 has small smoking booths along the corridor leading toward the gates, plus a larger smoking lounge with seating on the same corridor. On the arrivals side, a smoking cabin sits near the baggage carousels — after passport control, go down the stairs and turn right. The Pearl Lounge near Gate 30 (airside) also offers a smoking-friendly environment with 24-hour access.
Terminal 2
After security, Terminal 2 has a spacious smoking area behind Gate 15, behind the duty-free shops, convenient to retail and dining. On the arrivals side, a cabin is located in the baggage claim hall just to the left of the passport control counters, before the duty-free area. The landside Pearl Lounge next to the Terminal 2 check-in desks is another comfortable option before security.
Outside Terminals
Both terminals have marked designated outdoor smoking areas outside the buildings, fitted with ashtrays, for use before security and on arrival. Hurghada’s hot, dry Red Sea climate makes outdoor smoking comfortable in winter, but summer afternoons from May to September are very hot, so the indoor cabins are the better bet then.
