Yes, you can smoke at Copenhagen Airport (CPH). It is one of the few European airports with enclosed indoor smoking after security, and it adds an outdoor airside balcony, an airside lounge smoking area, and landside zones for both arriving and departing travellers.

Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup) is the largest airport in Scandinavia and the main international gateway for the Nordic region. Its piers are lettered A through F; every smoking option below sits in the A-gate Schengen area, on the C-gate balcony, or landside between the terminals.
A Gates: Indoor Cabin and Lounge (After Security)
The main indoor option is an enclosed smoking cabin after passport control near Gates A18-A34, in the Schengen part of the concourse. During the airport’s ongoing terminal works this cabin has at times been the only indoor booth in service, and it can be a 10-15 minute walk from the far piers, so allow time before boarding and follow the on-site signage to its current position.
Passengers with lounge access have a second indoor option: the Aspire Lounge near Gates A has its own designated smoking area, which opened in 2025. Lounge entry is by membership, an eligible card, or paid walk-in.
C Gates: Outdoor Airside Balcony (After Security)
For fresh air airside, an outdoor balcony sits at the beginning of Gates C, after passport control and above the 7-Eleven. The airport’s official guidance also points smokers to an outdoor area in connection with Gates A. Both are past security, so you reach them without leaving the sterile area.
Smoking During a Layover at CPH
Copenhagen is a genuinely transit-friendly hub. The A-gate indoor cabin, the Aspire Lounge area, and the C-gate outdoor balcony are all airside, so connecting passengers can smoke between flights without clearing passport control and re-screening. On a tight connection give yourself extra minutes, since the cabin can be a long walk from the non-Schengen piers.
Before Security: Landside Yellow Zones
Landside, smoking is at the outdoor yellow smoking zones between the entrances to Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. These serve arriving passengers and anyone who has not yet cleared security, and they are free to use.
Vaping
E-cigarettes are treated exactly like cigarettes at Copenhagen Airport — the airport’s official wording is that the rules for regular cigarettes also apply to e-cigarettes, because staff cannot reliably tell them apart. Use the designated smoking areas only.
