Yes, you can smoke at Aalborg Airport (AAL) — outdoors, at the area outside the terminal building, where the airport sets out ashtrays. There is no indoor smoking room anywhere at Aalborg, so the terminal is smoke-free throughout, on both sides of the security checkpoint.
Aalborg is northern Denmark’s main airport, with a single terminal.
Where to Smoke
The last version of Aalborg Airport’s own smoking-policy page that could be confirmed — an archived 2013 capture, since the live page could not be reached — states plainly: “all indoor smoking at Aalborg Airport is not permitted,” and that “smoking outside Aalborg Airport’s terminal is permitted, and ashtrays are also set up there.” There is no indoor alternative on either the landside or airside of Aalborg’s single terminal.
Because the only sanctioned spot is outside the building, the practical move is to smoke before you go through security. Once you’re airside there is nowhere to light up until you land.
After Security and Transit Passengers
Aalborg has no smoking area past security and no indoor smoking room. Passengers connecting through AAL who want to smoke have to exit the secure zone to the outdoor area, then pass back through screening to return to their gate — factor in the extra time on a short connection.
Vaping
The same archived policy page states that the rules for regular cigarettes apply equally to e-cigarettes, since staff cannot reliably distinguish the two. Vape only at the outdoor area outside the terminal, with the smokers.
