Where to Smoke: Outside the Terminal
Curaçao’s Tobacco Use Restriction Ordinance (P.B. 1996, no. 55, as amended) restricts smoking in enclosed public and commercial places, and the airport terminal is treated as one of those spaces. Open-air smoking outside the terminal building is therefore permitted; no designated or signed smoking area is currently confirmed. Plan your last cigarette before you enter for check-in or head into the security line, since the terminal itself is smoke-free throughout.
After Security
The departure gate area is inside the enclosed terminal building and is covered by the same smoke-free rule, so there is no smoking area past security. Passengers with a layover at CUR who want to smoke would need to exit back through immigration to the outside of the terminal and re-clear security for their onward flight, realistic only on a longer connection.
Vaping
The airport does not publish a separate rule for e-cigarettes, and Curaçao’s tobacco ordinance covers tobacco smoking rather than vaping; a legislative proposal to bring e-cigarettes under the same restrictions as tobacco was before parliament in December 2024.
