Hohhot Shengle International Airport, a new 4F-class airport being built in Horinger County around 38 km from the city centre, is set to replace Baita and take over the HET/ZBHH codes once it opens. The transition was originally scheduled for 27 November 2025 under a Civil Aviation Administration of China notice, with Baita closing the same day. That date slipped: in December 2025 it moved to “Q1 2026,” and by May 2026 the airport had still not formally opened. Commercial tenders for the new terminal’s retail concessions were still being issued in July 2026. If Shengle has opened by the time you fly, use its facilities and services in place of what’s described on this page — treat the smoking arrangements here as applying to Baita specifically.
