Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport opened on 16 October 2023, replacing the old in-city airport and becoming the main air gateway to Angkor Wat and the Siem Reap temple region. It sits in Sotr Nikum District, roughly 40 km east of the city, and was built as a single large modern terminal with bilingual signage throughout — which makes finding the smoking zones straightforward once you know they are all outdoors.

Departures Forecourt (Landside)
Before you check in, the easiest place to smoke is the kerbside forecourt outside the departures hall. Look for the marked outdoor smoking spots away from the entrance doors. This is the most convenient option if you arrive early, since you smoke before clearing security.

Airside Smoking Area — Gate 7 (After Security)
After passport control and security, the main airside smoking area is the open-air spot in international departures right next to Gate 7. Because it is airside, you can use it without re-clearing security before boarding. Signage is sparse — there is little more than a sign on the door itself — so if you cannot spot it, ask airline ground staff or the information desk for Gate 7. Travellers with lounge access can also use the open-air terrace at the Angkor Lounge, where smoking is permitted.
