Yes, you can smoke at Porto Seguro Airport (BPS) — outside the terminal building, landside. Brazilian federal law (Lei 12.546/2011) bans smoking in enclosed public spaces, so BPS’s terminal interior is smoke-free.
BPS is the single-runway airport serving Porto Seguro, Bahia. Socicam has administered it since February 2025 under a temporary contract, after two decades under Sinart, and it handled about 2.56 million passengers in 2025.
Where to Smoke
Open-air smoking outside the terminal building, landside, is permitted; the airport publishes no designated area; no smoking facility after security is confirmed. The airport’s BRT Lounge is listed in the external area rather than past security, and it too publishes no smoking facility.
