Perth splits its four terminals across two precincts on opposite sides of the airfield: T1 and T2 form the international precinct, and T3 and T4 form the Qantas precinct, about 10 minutes apart by the free Terminal Transfer bus (runs 24 hours). Perth Airport built a dedicated covered smokers shelter near T3, deliberately positioned away from the main entrance doors so arriving passengers do not walk through smoke — the cover is genuinely useful in Perth’s hot summers and winter rain. T4, next door, handles Qantas and QantasLink domestic flights and has its own signed outdoor area outside the terminal. T3 and T4 are within easy walking distance of each other, so the T3 shelter is the practical pick for the whole precinct.
Transit and Connecting Passengers
Perth has no airside smoking in any terminal, so a layover smoke always means being landside. International arrivals clear immigration and customs into the public hall, which puts the T1 forecourt area directly outside — smoke there before checking in for your next flight. Connecting from an international arrival at T1 to a Qantas domestic flight at T3/T4 means a Terminal Transfer bus ride of about 10 minutes, so smoke at T1 first or at the T3 shelter after the transfer; either way, allow 30 to 45 minutes on top of the shuttle for re-screening.
