Yes. You can smoke at Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE / Ezeiza) — outdoors, on the landside curb and forecourt outside the terminal buildings, before you reach security. Finish your cigarette on the forecourt as you arrive; the terminals are smoke-free indoors and there is no airside smoking, so smoke before you clear the checkpoint.
Ezeiza is Buenos Aires’ main international gateway and the largest airport in Argentina, handling almost all of the country’s long-haul traffic. Since April 2023 the airport has run on a new layout: a single large Departures Terminal (four floors) now handles every departure, international and domestic, while the old Terminal A is the International Arrivals Terminal and the old Terminal C is the Domestic Arrivals Terminal. Wherever you are, the smoking rule is the same — outdoors, landside only.
Where to Smoke
Smoking is permitted outdoors on the landside, on the pavement, curb and forecourt in front of the terminal entrances where passengers are dropped off and picked up. Look for the signage directing smokers away from the doors, step clear of the entrances, and use the open-air curbside areas.
Because all smoking is before security, the practical move is to finish a cigarette on the forecourt as you arrive, then head inside to check in and clear the checkpoint.
After Security and Connections
There is no airside smoking facility and no indoor smoking room anywhere in the Departures Terminal or the arrivals terminals. Once you pass through security and immigration there is nowhere to smoke until you leave the building.
Connecting passengers on long-haul itineraries feel this most: EZE is the country’s main international-to-domestic transfer point, and a smoke break means clearing immigration where required, walking out to the landside forecourt, then re-clearing security and passport control on the way back. Only attempt it with a comfortable connection window.
Lounges
The airport’s lounges — including the Amex/Centurion Ezeiza Lounge in the Departures Terminal and the airline VIP lounges — are entirely smoke-free. No lounge at EZE has a sealed smoking cabin, so lounge access does not buy you an indoor cigarette.
Vaping
Argentina’s Decree 602/2013 classifies e-cigarettes and heat-not-burn tobacco devices as tobacco products, so vaping is treated exactly like smoking: it is not permitted indoors or airside anywhere in the terminals, and is allowed only outdoors on the landside forecourt.
